Important Notice on Relief for Victims of Hurricane Harvey

On August 30, 2017, in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, the IRS issued guidance that provides for enhanced flexibility for plans and participants to obtain in-service distributions or loans from their tax-qualified retirement plans. The guidance applies to loans or hardship distribution requests made between August 23, 2017, and January 31, 2018. The announcement can be found on the IRS website.
If you, a lineal ascendant (e.g., grandparent, parent), lineal descendent (e.g., child, grandchild), dependent, or spouse has a principal place of residence or a place of employment located in one of the affected Texas counties (listed on the IRS website), a loan or hardship distribution may be available to you from your employer-sponsored retirement plan, even if the plan normally does not permit such. It is important to note that certain other requirements apply, including documentation requirements.
If you wish to receive a loan or hardship distribution, please contact your plan administrator or call Mutual of America's Withdrawal Processing Center at 1-877-567-9662, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. ET.
